Summary of the Project:

Two of the grand challenges facing humans today are mitigating climate change and eradicating poverty. One of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals is to ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all.

This Smart Energy transformation coincides with a rapidly accelerating opportunity to utilise big data to inform government policy, manage energy systems, and address consumer needs.

The DSAI team and Monash University Energy Institute have partnered to tap into emerging data from Monash's on-site energy generation, storage and distributed energy technologies, and consumption from its power purchase agreements. We are currently establishing a data repository and governance mechanisms required to host energy data emerging from the Monash campus energy infrastructure and expand by hosting data from other precincts, universities, and the energy sector. This will give researchers an easy approach to finding and using energy data.
